It’s long been tied to cocktail lore, with the Bloody Mary and the Monkey Gland, and early claims around the French 75, Sidecar, and White Lady. It opens at noon most days, which makes a French 75 here a pretty perfect excuse for civilized day drinking. A hot dog and drink combo at the counter keeps it satisfyingly unpretentious. Before U.S. elections, the bar even runs its own straw vote, and it has called the winner far more often than it has missed.
